TLDR: The New Balance 740 “Green/Orange” combines the classic running look of the early 2000s with an extremely eye-catching colourway. Bright green mesh, black overlays and metallic orange details are paired with a comfortable ABZORB midsole. The trainer has been available since 3 August 2026 for €120. With the 740 “Green/Orange”, New Balance showcases the decidedly bolder side of its retro running silhouette. The shoe retains its signature Y2K shape, but takes on a completely new character thanks to the unusual colour combination.
The base consists of bright green mesh, over which black and dark grey synthetic overlays are placed on the toe, sides and heel. Metallic orange-gold on the large N logos and other side details provides the strongest contrast. Small lavender accents around the eyelets and in the forefoot area add even more depth to the colourway.
Black laces, a dark toe bumper and reflective elements tie the design together despite the multitude of colours. Beneath the upper, the green continues onto the voluminous ABZORB midsole, whilst black support elements in the midfoot and forefoot create a more technical look.
The outsole combines black traction rubber with green panels and small blue inserts at the heel. This keeps the 740 visually rooted in the early 2000s running aesthetic, yet the eye-catching colour palette gives it a distinctly more modern and experimental feel.
