TLDR: The Pokémon x adidas ZX 500 RS “Rayquaza” transfers the Legendary Pokémon’s colours and scale-like textures to a classic retro runner. Different types of green leather and suede, yellow accents and interchangeable lace details define the release. The trainer is priced at 100€.
Rayquaza appears on several silhouettes from adidas’ extensive collection celebrating Pokémon’s 30th anniversary. The ZX 500 RS provides a more traditional alternative to the technical Adistar Control 5, combining its 1980s running roots with details inspired by the Hoenn region.
Deep shades of green cover almost the entire upper. Long-haired suede on the toe meets shorter suede around the eyestays and heel, while smooth leather forms the quarter panels. These contrasting surfaces add depth to the largely tonal construction. Embossed Three Stripes provide another reference to Rayquaza’s scales.
Artwork of the Legendary Pokémon decorates the tongue, while yellow and red accents recall its distinctive body markings. The trainer also comes with Rayquaza and Poké Ball lace appliqués. A predominantly black sole unit with lightweight EVA cushioning and a stabilising heel element completes the retro design.
