Converse Commemorates Batman's 80th Year with a Footwear Collab

This latest collection made in celebration of the 80th anniversary of Batman by Warner Bros. revisits the comic book archives with the use of insignia and book covers that provide a retro touch. Converse joins this celebration by releasing a 6-piece footwear collection.

The capsule consists of two pairs of Chuck '70s as well as two other pairs of High Top All Stars and two Low Top sneakers in full family sizes. The entire collection zones in on elements from the archives of DC and brings to us 6 new pairs that bring about a sense of nostalgia. The inspiration was taken from the '50s, '60s, and '70s comic book releases, utilizing the pop art motif as what was popular during those years.

The first Chuck '70 pair comes with the familiar upper made of white canvass and a pink/yellow logo as seen on the Batman issue #220 released back in March 1970. The second Chuck '70 pair, on the other hand, comes with a reimagined version of the artwork against an upper made of black canvass.

For the High Top All Stars, one model features an upper inspired by the artwork cover of Batman issue #190 drawn by Carmine Infantino and coloured by Joe Giella and released back in March 1967. Apart from this, the rest of the shoe features prints of Batman's symbol, such as on the tongue and the sockliner. Another High Top All Stars shoe features one of the oldest of the artworks drawn by Win Mortimer and coloured by George Roussos for the Detective Comics issue #164.

For the Low Top All Stars, one model shows an artwork of Batman's nemesis, the Joker from Batman issue #251, which was then released in September 1973. The other Low Top shoe, on the other hand, features seven prints of Batman's symbol all over the canvass--featured at various points from 1940 until 1986.
