Los Angeles Lakers fans may not have much to cheer about right now, but things are looking all the better in the sneaker world. Most recently, adidas announced the return of the adidas Crazy 97 and other Kobe sneakers, and Nike renewed its partnership with the family of the late basketball player.

But not only do these two labels have news to announce, but New Balance is also getting in on the action. Today, the brand has unveiled two New Balance 550s that feature the Lakers colours. There is no official collaboration, but it's just very hard not to make that connection.

The two new colourways of the New Balance 550 will be released later this year. They feature a premium white leather base and a bright colour palette. One model is geared more towards a "home" colourway, and the other sneaker focuses on indigo blue.

New Balance has not yet added the two 550 "Lakers" to the release calendar, but a release this year is suspected. We are curious, so we’ll follow the release. You'll find future updates here and in our release calendar.
