Concepts and New Balance Introduces Latest Collab Inspired by Baseball Legend Babe Ruth

Concepts introduces its latest collaboration with Boston's athletic shoe giant New Balance. The partnership was inspired by a rather unusual part in the history of sports: the Curse of the Bambino. This so-called “curse” was all about the infamous rivalry between the Boston Red Sox and the New York Yankees. Red Sox legend Babe Ruth was said to have been sold to the New York Yankees. After that, the Red Sox did not have any wins until 86 years later, which was in 2004.

To understand why the magenta-pink-orange colorway is used in this design and not the original Red Sox or Yankees color scheme, we have to understand the real inspiration behind the Concepts x New Balance 997S "ESRUC." Allegedly, the reason why Babe Ruth was sold by Red Sox owner Harry Frazee was because he wanted to finance the production of the Broadway musical No, No, Nanette, with posters having the same color scheme as the 997S Fusion “ESRUC.”

New Balance picks a very chic magenta suede for this design and orange detailing for the iconic “N” logo as well around the heel and midsole. This eye-catching piece offers a combination of white laces with pink and orange accents surrounding the white midsole. In addition to that, the 997S offers special insoles and an awesome packaging to complete to whole look.

These badass kicks really do carry an important piece of sports history with them! Unfortunately, we can only expect a limited number of pairs from this latest collaboration by Concepts and New Balance. The release is set on June 28thand is only exclusive at Patta London in UK.
