With Immediate Effect, Nike Suspends Its Relationship with Kyrie Irving

Nike's partnership with Kyrie Irving has been ongoing since 2011. The sporting goods company and the NBA basketball player have released remarkable basketball shoes, and the eighth signature sneaker is supposed to drop this year. But now, Kyrie Irving and Nike's long-standing partnership has suddenly come to an end.

The Beaverton-based sports brand has announced it is ending its professional relationship with Kyrie Irving. This news came just one day after Kyrie Irving shared an anti-Semitic video on Twitter, for which the 30-year-old basketball player refused to apologise. Not only Nike is drawing consequences, but also the Brooklyn Nets. The basketball team is suspending Irving and requiring him to comply with "a series of objective remedial measures". Nike states:

"At Nike, we believe there is no place for hate speech, and we condemn all forms of anti-Semitism. For this reason, we have made the decision to end our relationship with Kyrie Irving with immediate effect and to no longer launch the Kyrie 8. We are deeply saddened and disappointed by this situation and its impact on everyone involved."
