When it comes to uncompromising performance, there's no getting around the Nike AlphaFly. Developed with world records in mind and inspired by Eliud Kipchoge's legendary sub-two-hour marathon, the AlphaFly is more than just a running shoe – it's a technological challenge to time itself.

Nike AlphaFly: The speed sneaker
What makes this shoe so special? Let's start with what you see – or rather, feel: two visible Zoom Air pods in the forefoot provide explosive rebound with every step. Combined with a full-length ZoomX foam sole, the AlphaFly offers a running experience that feels almost outrageously light-footed. The carbon fibre plate inside also provides the necessary stability and forward momentum.
The upper material is also impressive. The ultra-light AtomKnit mesh fits the foot like a second skin, is breathable and extremely functional. Despite all the high-tech components, the shoe remains surprisingly comfortable, even over long distances.
The AlphaFly is aimed at ambitious runners who don't want to compromise. But sneaker fans who appreciate futuristic designs and genuine innovation will also get their money's worth.

Who is the Nike Alphafly suitable for? The Nike Alphafly is primarily aimed at ambitious runners who are looking for maximum performance, especially in competition. If you regularly run half marathons or marathons and pay attention to every second, the Alphafly is a real weapon. The combination of ZoomX foam, a carbon plate and two visible Zoom Air pods in the forefoot area offers explosive energy return and a springy running feel that is unique. It is less suitable for leisurely long runs or relaxed after-work runs, as it is too specialised and too expensive for that. However, anyone who wears it in competition will quickly notice that there is more to it than meets the eye. However, a certain degree of running economy and running technique is required, as beginners may feel rather unstable due to the aggressive geometry. For tempo runs, competitions and ambitious training, however, the Alphafly is virtually unbeatable.
What makes the Nike Alphafly so special? It's its radical performance-oriented design. At first glance, the shoe looks like a prototype from a laboratory – and that's exactly what it is. Nike developed it together with Eliud Kipchoge to run the marathon distance in under two hours. The combination of a carbon plate, two huge Zoom Air elements and responsive ZoomX foam ensures an extremely energetic and bouncy running experience. Particularly striking is the aggressive rocker geometry, which literally pushes the foot forward. Ideal for a dynamic stride. The fit is also special: the ultra-light, breathable and close-fitting Atomknit upper is perfect. Everything about this shoe is designed to make you faster: the cushioning, the roll-off behaviour and the weight savings.

Is the Nike Alphafly a competition shoe? Absolutely. It is a pure competition shoe, which is what it was made for, and that is where it really comes into its own. It is optimised for speed and is therefore particularly suitable for marathons, half marathons or even 10K distances. In training, I only use it for specific tempo or interval runs, as you don't need this boost every day and the wear and tear should not be underestimated. The carbon plate provides stiffness and propulsion, while the ZoomX foam ensures maximum energy return. Combined with its lightweight construction, this makes the Alphafly one of the fastest shoes on the market. However, it is overkill for relaxed endurance runs or recovery sessions. It is clear that this shoe was designed for running at maximum speed on asphalt.
