adidas' FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 2 is a Recyclable Running Shoe

adidas never fails to continue its innovative development and technical progress. After the recyclable FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 1, the Herzogenaurach-based brand now introduces a FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 2, featuring interestingly reconstructed used sneakers.

The first FUTURECRAFT.LOOP was tested in April by a group of 200 runners. After the test, adidas took the used sneakers together with the data gathered from the runners and recycled the FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 1 to create the FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 2. The sneakers now have the same 100% recyclable upper and a unique blue gradient.

"We've collected the shoes, recycled them, left them in our supply chain, and finally processed the recycled material into new components for running shoes," said Amanda Verbeck, Product Developer, Running at adidas. "The material is melted and processed into new pellets that are heated to form new components such as eyelets and outsoles. Pure TPU material is used for the remaining components of the midsole and shaft. “

The release of the new adidas running shoe is still far away.

But, adidas will soon be sending the FUTURECRAFT.LOOP GEN 2 back to the runners to complete the closed loop process. The release date is expected to be in SS21. Don't miss any more news until then and get the Grailify app. With it, you are sure to always be up to date.
