How an Old NMD_R1 from Nice Kicks Inspires the adidas Ultra Boost
adidas and long-term partner Nice Kicks will continue to expand their partnership this year. For their upcoming project, the duo reached for the coveted Ultra Boost and an old coveted colourway from 2016, as the new sneaker uses the red and black pattern from the legendary Nice Kicks x adidas NMD_R1.
Taking inspiration from San Francisco's Haight-Ashbury neighbourhood, Nice Kicks faithfully covers the latest adidas Ultra Boost with split details from its NMD counterpart. This includes varied red and black stripes on the Primeknit upper, as well as a white Boost sole and rubber outsole.
Other split details include co-branding from adidas and Nice Kicks on both the tongues and insoles. Lastly, black hits the cage, along with the heel clip, laces, and lining. According to Nice Kicks, they have chosen the phrase "No Vacancy" to describe this shoe, hoping to fill the mind with positivity and eliminate negativity.
