Nike prides itself on its Air Max technology, and the brand shows this with a small or large window to expose the cushioning unit. With the Nike Air Max 97 "Hangul Day" a.k.a. "No Bubble", however, things have gone differently this time. The Air Max unit is hidden in favour of a full rubber casing.

The voluminous cushioning is firmly embedded in the Sail-coloured EVA foam. Overall, the experimental Air Max 97 looks very foreign, but the smooth, monochromatic surface gives the design a very clean look. The same hue is carried over to the tongues and inner lining.

Elsewhere, the Nike Air Max 97 "Hangul Day" gets a contrasting look with black panels. The large mudguard is made of suede, and the wavy elements are made of leather. Lastly, icy outsoles and a toggle system with a chrome part finish off the overall design.
