The Nike LeBron 21 "Akoya" will be released on 28 September.
The Nike LeBron 21 "Akoya" was specially designed for the next generation of basketball players and inspired by LeBron's own daughter Zhuri. The shoe looks like an oyster and is designed to protect players from injury on the court. It is made of lightweight materials and features ventilation in the form of stripes that resemble the veins of a seashell to support players during their explosive movements. The mesh construction is reinforced by 360-degree zoned cables around the midfoot to give the player extra support during fast movements. When it comes to breathability, the designers have thought of everything and even added perforations in the Nike Swoosh in the centre. The Zoom Turbo unit in the forefoot and the 13 mm Zoom unit support the player's movement. A long cushion provides a comfortable feel, while the TPU midsole provides stability and added rebound during dynamic movements.
The exposed construction on the feet is reminiscent of a shell and the quilted, perforated foam tongue provides a plush feel. According to Jason Petrie, the LeBron XXI's head designer, the shoe was inspired by the way LeBron grooms his body in the offseason. His trainer even compared it to the care of an F1 car! From 28 September, the Nike LeBron 21 "Akoya" will be available in family sizes.
