Parra

Parra | The Dutch Artist

Pieter' Parra' Janssen, commonly known as Parra, is a Dutch artist best known for his characters resembling birds and for using saturated colours. He started his journey by exploring the world of colourful handwritten letters and posters. The artist is also known for making some of the best signs.

He has evolved his art in recent years by revisiting his core values and figures. He has made a name for himself in the underground world of art galleries. Parra has transformed into a multimedia artist whose work has been displayed all over Asia, the United States and Europe.

His fans and people of culture instantly recognize his art because of easy categorization. His paintings, drawings, sculptures and years of experience have helped him transform the world of footwear forever.

His cult apparel brand ByParra has partnered with Nike and many other leading brands.

Nike Air Max 1

The journey of Parra's collaboration with Nike started with the Air Max 1 'Amsterdam'. The shoe is often referred to as the Air AMS Max, the AMS stands for Amsterdam, the designer's hometown.

It has signature pink and blue hues on the silhouette with a maroon leather base to give more character to the shoe. The footwear takes inspiration from Amsterdam's red light district. Moreover, the shoe has a rare "Hyperstrike edition" with the designer's name on the mudguard.

Air Max 95 Running Man

As the name suggests, the running man is oriented towards people seeking a healthy lifestyle. The show "Running Man" was released as part of the 2008 collaboration collection that released the Air Max 90 in a new and different colour. Parra gave the shoe a new life by putting his signature style onto it.

The shoe has pastel pink and blue stripes on the layered upper. The deep black midsole complements it. The shoe makes sure one can look cool while maintaining a healthy life. Sneakerheads consider the AM95s one of the most popular collabs among the two, holding the top position for a long time.

SB Dunk Blazer Low

The Dunk and the SB Dunk were already enjoying all the fame and hype from sneaker lovers. And it was only suitable to bring the decorated designer Parra on board as the cherry on top.

Moreover, Nike believed in the Dutch designer and gave him a free hand to design anything of his own. Both the shoes had multi-layered pastel Swooshes with custom tongue labels. Moreover, the small details like graphic lining and mini Swooshes on the forefront only improve the shoe.

Dunk Low Abstract Art

Parra came on board with Nike to produce a new version of the Dunk Low. It has been reborn with a bold print, taking influences from the Dutch artist's iconic work. The detailing can be seen on the mudguard, heel, and the tongue. An off-white nubuck base surrounds all this to tone down the shoe.

As for the branding, the legendary swoosh logo is on the side and toe of the shoe. At the same time, Parra's logo can be seen on the heel.
